Why Having Expectations for your Kids is a Double-Edged Sword
Expectations are a double-edged sword.
On the one hand, we need expectations. We expect our kids to brush their teeth and get ready for school. It may happen in a different time frame than we want, but it's our job to see those things happen.
On the other hand, expectations can cause us to be disappointed.
We expect our kids to be careful when we tell them, "don't touch the music box as it's delicate."
Or the simple expectation of using words like "please" and "thank you."
Our kids are still learning, and their brains are still tiny and forming. We're learning too, and our brains are fully developed!
During our podcast with Jon Wood, we discuss expectations, patience, and anger management. Jon shares his story and offers valuable insights and tips on how to manage anger and find ways to cope with parenting challenges.
